Like pulling off that band-aid, I had to put out a new post because it’s been so darn long. If I keep holding off until I have that stroke of brilliance that’s going to get me back in the groove or writing it’ll never happen.

So I’m back from a three week road trip. It started out with a trip to DC for a couple weeks followed by what should have been a trip to Dallas but turned into a visit to Montreal, Quebec. The DC trip was pretty straightforward. I could go into detail but that’d just put y’all to sleep. Let’s talk about Montreal.

I’d never been to Montreal and, well, I don’t speak French. Not even a little bit. When I picked up the car and headed to the hotel I found out real quickly that the signs didn’t have English subtitles. The guy at the counter told me to take the 20 east but that gets a little complicated when my choices are ‘nord’ and ‘est’. Okay, est it is.

The other very cool thing about Montreal is that it’s right next to Vermont. I arrived on a Saturday and got in touch with Allison Dincecco. We set up a lunch date followed by a Zumba® Fitness class with Jessica Snook who was amazing. I took a few classes leading up to that weekend which I’ll cover in another post when I’ve had time to get pictures together.

So on to the Montreal job. I was there to consult. That’s not a bad way to roll, actually. You sit there listening to everyone talk and when they say something about the product you either nod in agreement or drop the science. That was two days. On to the flight home. Wow.

I get to the airport 2.5 hours early. They want you there two hours early for international flights but you already know how I roll, right? Early to everything. I’m standing in line to hand in my bags and they pull me out and tell me that my flight from Montreal to Calgary will be way too late to get me to my connection to Vancouver, BC. Okay, no biggy – let’s fix it, right? I’m doing fine but the folks around me are losing there ever-loving minds.

I’ll never understand that. I’m the first person who will complain if there’s something to be gained. Free meal, free tickets, whatever – if you’ve been inconvenienced, ask for whatever is going to make the universe right again for you. But to complain for the sake of complaining? Why?

They put us on a direct flight from Montreal to Vancouver. Very very cool. That’s now the longest single flight I’ve taken at 5 hours and 40 minutes. After that, a 4 hour layover and finally a quick jump from there to Portland. It’s been nice to be home for a bit but I’m already looking at gigs coming up to do a better job at planning my off-work hours.
